Purppura pullover
Purppura pullover
The Purppura pullover was originally released as a t-shirt design in Pom Pom Quarterly issue 41, which was their 10 year anniversary issue. I wanted to create something that is fun to knit but also fun to wear, because that is what Pom Pom’s style means to me. For this design I was thinking about anniversaries and parties, so I came up with this lace pattern that reminds me of garlands.
The Purppura pullover is knitted seamlessly top-down starting at the neckband. A beautiful lace pattern is worked on the yoke (with optional bobbles that you can leave out if bobbles aren’t your thing). The sleeves and body are separated at the underarm and knitted separately. The back is shaped with short-rows to give it a bit more length and to improve the fit. The body is slightly cropped so it’s perfect to pair with a dress, a skirt or a pair of high waisted pants, but the length is easily modified for a longer fit. Note that changing the length of the body will affect the amount of yarn needed to finish the pullover, so if you want a longer body, make sure you get a few extra balls of yarn.
