Mneme was the muse of memory.

The Mneme beanie is perfect for using leftover yarns. It is knitted with a strand of DK weight yarn and three strands of lace weight silk mohair for the softest and the warmest hat. You can choose matching colors or go for a marled look by combining complimenting colors. The sample hat was knitted using three different colors of mohair.

For head circumferences of 54–58 cm / 21–23 inches

Length with brim folded: 23 cm / 9 inches

Total length from top to bottom, brim unfolded: 48 cm / 19 inches

Yarn

200 m / 220 yards of DK weight yarn and 600 m / 660 yards of lace weight silk mohair

Sample: 2 balls of Sandnes Garn Double Sunday (100% merino; 118 meters / 129 yards per 50 g), shown in colorway 3821 Kardemomme and 3 balls of Gepard Garn Kid Seta (70 % mohair, 30% silk; 210 m / 230 yards per 25 g), shown in colorways 103, 405 and 1007, one ball of each.

Needles 

• 5 mm / US 8 DPNs or a circular needle with a cable suitable for small circumference knitting for top of the hat

• 5 mm / US 8 circular needle with a cable length of 40 cm / 16 inches for the main part

Note: Always use the needle size that gives you the right gauge!

Gauge

17 sts and 20 rounds = 10 cm / 4 inches of 2x2 ribbing in the round, after blocking, slightly stretched
