Ceres Tee

Ceres was the ancient Roman goddess of harvest, grains, motherhood, and the earth. 

The Ceres Tee is knitted seamlessly from the top down. It is worked beginning at the back of the neck and then continued down to the underarm. Stitches are picked up from the shoulders for the front, which features a simple cable and lace pattern. The front and back are joined at the underarm, and the body is then worked in the round. The sleeve caps are shaped with short rows to improve the fit.

• Finished bust circumference: 81 (93, 102, 114, 123) (133, 142, 154, 162) cm / 32 (36.5, 40.25, 44.75, 48.5) (52.25, 56, 60.5, 63.75) inches. Intended to be worn with 5-8.5 cm / 2-3.25 inches of positive ease 

• Length from hem to underarm (adjustable): 32 (32, 32, 34, 34) (34, 36, 36, 36) cm / 12.5 (12.5, 12.5, 13.5, 13.5) (13.5, 14.25, 14.25, 14.25) inches

• Armhole depth: 19 (20, 21.5, 22, 23.5) (24, 25, 26, 28) cm / 7.5 (7.75, 8.5, 8.75, 9.25) (9.5, 9.75, 10.25, 11) inches

• Upper arm circumference: 32.5 (35, 39, 42, 45) (47.5, 50.5, 54.5, 57) cm / 12.75 (13.75, 15.25, 16.5, 17.75) (18.57, 20, 21.5, 22.5) inches

Note: Please be aware that adjusting the lengths of the garment will also affect the amount of yarn needed to finish the project.

Yarn

You can choose either fingering or sport weight yarn for this tee. The fingering weight yarn will provide an airier and more drapey fabric, whereas the sport weight version will be sturdier and denser.

570 (630, 690, 760, 830) (920, 1010, 1110, 1220) m / 620 (690, 750, 830, 910) (1000, 1100, 1210, 1340) yards of fingering or sport weight yarn.

White sample: 2 (3, 3, 3, 3) (4, 4, 4, 5) skeins of La Bien Aimée Sport Nouveau (100% Non-Superwash Merino; 300 meters / 328 yards per 100 g) shown in the colorway Blanc.

Purple sample: 2 (2, 2, 2, 2) (3, 3, 3, 3) skeins of Mominoki Yarn Ramie Silk (60% Non-Superwash Wool, 20% Silk, 20% Ramie; 425 meters / 465 yards per 100 g) shown in the colorway Lavender.

Needles

For the ribbing:

• 3 mm / US2.5 DPNs or a circular needle with a cable suitable for small circumference knitting for cuffs

• 3 mm / U2.5 circular needle with a cable length of 40 cm / 16 inches for the neckline

• 3 mm / US2.5 circular needle with a cable length of 80 cm / 32 inches for smaller sizes and 100 cm / 40 inches for larger sizes for the hem

For the main part:

• 3.5 mm / US4 DPNs or a circular needle with a cable suitable for small circumference knitting for sleeves

• 3.5 mm / US4 circular needle with a cable length of 80 cm / 32 inches for smaller sizes and 100 cm / 40 inches for larger sizes for the body

Note: Always use the needle size that gives you the right gauge!

Gauge

21 sts and 31 rows = 10 cm / 4 inches of Stockinette stitch on larger needles, both flat and in the round, after blocking
