August kids' beanie
August kids' beanie
The August hat was inspired by the golden colors of late summer evenings and the wheat stalks swaying in the soft wind. August is also my son’s middle name and this hat was especially designed for him.
The hat is started with a tubular cast on, that makes the cast on edge neat and stretchy, although instructions are provided for the long tail cast on method as well. The cable pattern is both charted and written.
Size
One size
For head circumferences of 45-51 cm / 18-20 inches
Finished circumference: 45 cm / 18 inches

Yarn
Note: The hat uses a strand of DK weight yarn held together with a strand of lace weight yarn, but they can be substituted for a single strand of light worsted weight yarn. If you wish to work a light worsted weight version, omit all the instructions where it says “hold the yarns together” and follow only the yarn amount requirements for the DK weight yarn.
